How to rock your makeup for your favorite music festivals
Festival and concert season takes off in the spring. You may have heard of or are attending Coachella this year, or any of the various outdoor live music events this season. Coachella just finished up weekend 1 and musicians and fans alike are ready to do it all again this weekend. Festivals are the perfect opportunity for you to go bold and avant garde with your clothes and makeup. So whether you’re ready to jam out this summer with a couple thousand of fellow music fans, or just want to look like you’re attending a music festival, try some of these playful makeup styles perfect for any adventurous Skone Girl.
Play around with color
What many festival looks have in common is bold colors and combinations you may not want to use for regular everyday wear. This is your chance to try something new and different, so don’t be shy! A great way to add pops of color is by using our Insanely Intense Tattooed Eyeliner in Plum, Navy or Hunter Green. Create a graphic liner look, a colorful shadow paired with winged eyeliner, or something totally out of the box! What’s really on trend this season is creating a colorful dot on your lower lashline. It’s a retro and fashion forward look all at once. For extra festival flair, apply your favorite shade of Eye Lights wet for the lower lashline dot.
Another hot makeup trend for festivals is the use of glitter and different types of shimmery shadows. If you’ve ever been to a festival before, you’ve probably seen some glitter goddesses floating around. Create this look for yourself with our Eye Lights. Any shade will do, but try using two shades together to create a multi-dimensional look. We think Plum Wine and Sherry would be a stunning combination. To add textures or patterns to your face, use stencils or even fishnet stockings to achieve the look you want. Simply stretch the fabric over the area you want to apply and gently pat the pigment into your skin. We suggest using our Luxe Pro Contour brush because its blunt edge will help you pack the color on for an intensified effect. This design often looks similar to fish scales, so if you’re going for a mermaid-inspired look you should definitely try this technique.
Pretty your pout
When applying everyday makeup you generally pick a part of your face, like eyes or lips, draw focus to that area, and leave the rest of your face more neutral. When it comes to festival outfits and makeup, ANYTHING goes and everything can be bold if you so choose. Dab some Eye Lights onto your lips to make your lips look shimmery and stand out in the crowd. You can use a shade that’s close to your lip color, or go completely wild with color and create a whole new style.
